The In-Flight Cocktail Kit

There’s a certain romantic notion attached to the in-flight cocktail, isn't there? But considering the anemic booze and mixer selection in the aisle cart these days, it's tough to get more creative than the rudimentary soda/juice + spirit combo. Today, that changes, with the debut of the ingenious Carry-On Cocktail Kit from our pals at W&P Design.

Concealed within a miniature tin that easily stashes in your carry-on (or even a back pocket), the FAA-compliant kit has all the tools and ingredients you'll need to mix a proper Old Fashioned from the comfort of your tray table at 30,000 feet.

Once you've scored a nip of booze (opening any tiny bottles you've brought with can be illegal), some ice, and an extra cup from the flight attendant, you're ready to roll.

Place the empty glass on the included linen coaster, add the Demerara cane sugar, small-batch bitters, and bourbon. Muddle it all using the hybrid spoon/muddler and pour over the cup of ice, stir for 15 seconds, and voila, you're ready to enjoy air travel as it once was: with an expertly mixed cocktail in hand.

Joe McGauley is a senior editor at Supercompressor who from here out never travels without a mini spoon/muddler and bitters bottle.
