These Are the Most Dangerous Roads in the World

Driving Experiences just put together an interactive map of the 22 most dangerous roads on earth. No, the most dangerous road in the world isn't the freeway you take every day. Unless you live in Alabama, then it's totally possible. Each listing's got photos and an explanation of why the road is so deadly, like...

The Zoji La
Zoji La is just your average mountain pass... nearly 12,000 feet up in the Himalayas. It's also kind of a pivotal trade route so it's generally got traffic. In 1947, India and Pakistan fought heavily over this road, and India somehow managed to drive tanks on it.

North Yungas Road
You've probably heard of Bolivia's North Yungas Road: it's often referred to as the Road of Death, for fairly obvious reasons. Frequently cars try squeezing past trucks on the outside, because... well, we're not sure why.

Trollstigen
This Norwegian pass has a bunch of switchbacks so sharp that long vehicles stand no change of making it, and the road even has the name Stig in the middle of it, so you'd expect it to be one of the most awesome patches of pavement on the planet. But, it's Norway, where it snows. A lot. As a result, this road is so dangerous during the winter authorities tend to shut it down.
