The Best Vintage Weekend Whips on eBay Motors, 4/18/14

“Owning a TVR in the past was like owning a bear. I mean it was great, until it pulled your head off, which it would.” — Jeremy Clarkson

The very best vintage weekend whips on eBay Motors this week.

1973 Karmann Ghia
The Ghia is among the best vintage cars that you can buy today, and it has a unique place in history as one of the coolest rear-engined cars not made by Porsche. This particular Karmann Ghia has been so well maintained over the years that it's routinely used for photo and advertising work, like the J.Crew catalog. [More pics...]

1964 Mini with Honda VTEC
The original Mini is still pretty much the closest thing to a street legal go kart that has ever been mass produced. The cars are so light that virtually no one really cares that in stock form some of their engines have less than 50 hp. Except the guy who built this car. It's got an engine out of a Civic, which at 180 hp is more than enough to scare your passengers. This one's fully track ready, too, with a full suite of safety equipment. [More pics...]

1973 Porsche 914 Race Car
Porsche 914s have never been what you would call "light." But this one, with its fiberglass body and complete disregard for anything that's not absolutely necessary for racing, barely weighs more than the air around it. The car's been owned and maintained by the same family for decades and has won numerous races and championships. Also, it'll cost about the same as a several-year-old Porsche Boxster. This is better. 1974 BMW 2002
The 2002 has achieved a rightful place in BMW history as a car that, in the right hands, can out-handle anything in its class. This particular one actually has one of BMW's most bulletproof six-cylinder engines, and is pumping out well over 300 hp. Translation? Fun, lots and lots of fun. [More pics...]

1942 Jeep
Given its primary function of moving troops around, when this Jeep was built it was probably the most important vehicle in the world. This particular example was restored using bits from other Jeeps from the 1940s and 1950s, and it's practically screaming to be used for weekend excursions through muddy fields. It's only $6,000, too. [More pics...]

1988 TVR S
Chances are you're familiar with TVR, but only from the misadventures of the guys on Top Gear. This 1988 TVR S has 160 hp, which is actually more than enough considering it weighs just 2,200 pounds. The owner of this one brought it to the U.S. last year as part of an effort to make them legal here. There's a chance this is the only TVR S in the country. [More pics...]

1995 Corvette ZR-1
Supremely reliable for daily use? Check. Legitimately fast on track? Check. The timeless style that comes with having a ZR-1? Check. On top of everything, this car has spent the better part of 20 years under a car cover in a garage. It has 1,700 miles on it, and everything's original, including the "air in the tires." It's a fun one. [More pics...]

Aaron Miller is the Rides editor for Supercompressor, and after re-reading this list, he's gonna need a bigger garage.
