The 2015 Corvette Z06 is a stunning monster

Chevy just dropped the C7 Z06 on the world, pretty much with the sole purpose of making sure you never get passed while you're driving it. The performance? Yeah, It's a little extreme.

For starters, it's got a 6.2-liter V8, and GM's engineers thought it was too weak. Naturally, they tossed a supercharger on top, so it hits "at least" 625 horsepower, which means that in less time than It takes you to read this sentence, the car will be doing 60 miles per hour, and the top end should be over 200 miles per hour.

The straight-line numbers of the new Z06 might be gaudy, but they're really secondary to the primary purpose of the car; it's an all-out track monster hell-bent on beating Ferraris and Porsches. Note all the extra aerodynamic pieces on the car — they're all functional, and that spoiler in the rear is adjustable should you feel the need for more grip. Hint: Grip is addictive. You will want more.

Of course, everything about the car's made to be as light as possible. Well, except that massive supercharger, but they made an exception for it. And then they made these slick carbon fiber hood vents to keep everything cool.

For people that are just as crazy as GM's engineers, there's also a Z07 package that adds even more aero bits and these rims. They're much wider, but also quite a bit lighter, to aid in cornering prowess. Still, you will need to brake occasionally, so these absolutely massive 15.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors are in place to make sure you can do that all day long without smashing into things.

As a testament to how good the new all-aluminum chassis really is, GM's using it in basically its unchanged form as a basis for the new C7.R race car, which makes its competitive debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona on Jan 25th.
