Screw coffee and Red Bull, get amped with a mace-like topical spray

Energy drinks are great when you need a quick boost. But what if you're dragging so hard you can't even muster the strength to sip? Well, maybe take a nap? Or you could get amped by simply spritzing your skin with some Sprayable Energy, a new caffeine-based topical liquid that comes in a handy little mace-like canister.

Developed by a duo that includes both a former I-banker and Thiel Fellow — a student that serial investor/PayPal founder/Thank You For Smoking producer Peter Thiel paid $100K to drop out of college — the serum may seem terrifying, but it's actually backed by some serious science. In fact, it was developed with help from one of their fathers, who's a chemist with a few drug-delivery patents under his belt.

The concoction's a cocktail of caffeine, water, and cocaine tyrosine, an amino acid that makes it possible for your body to effectively absorb the caffeine through skin, with a single dose (2-4 sprays) optimized to keep you going for up to five hours. And at $15 per bottle, it's by far cheaper than dropping a mint on three Venti lattes a day, or paying out the nose for an energy drink at a club.
