This Jeff Goldblum + GE Lightbulb Commercial Is Bizarre, Perfect

National treasure and American actor/icon, Jeff Goldblum, has played many roles in his 40+ years in front of the camera. Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park, mutated genetic deformity Seth Brundle in The Fly, and the well-dressed, tall, articulate man in every single Wes Anderson movie ever made.

However, we may have just discovered Goldblum's most successful role yet: a lightbulb salesman. A new ad, directed by renowned comedy psychopaths, Tim and Eric, has Goldblum hawking GE's new smart lightbulb, Link, and it's perfect.

As a Goldblum-thirsty viewer, this new spot satisfies every bit of Jeff Golblum-bloodlust that we suffer from every minute of every day. There's Jeff Goldblum in a fancy wig, Jeff Goldblum in a fancy pool, Jeff Goldblum playing a fancy piano in that fancy pool—fancily.

Oh, and there's also this guy. Who the f*ck is this guy?! Anyway, we're actually pretty stoked on Link as a product itself—regardless of the excellent celebrity endorsement. It's a $15 smartbulb that contains a chip which wirelessly syncs to a mobile app called Wink. (It also lasts for 22 years.)

Through Wink, you can control when the lights go on and off and you can customize a room's lighting situation without leaving your couch. Sexy mood lighting? Sexy mood lighting.

Link, and the ensuing ad, came about from a collaboration with our buds at Quirky and it's the next logical step in having a futuristic smart house that may or may not gain self awareness and accidentally nuke the Russians.

Anyway, check out the ad. There's a "how many people does it take to screw in a lightbulb" joke in here somewhere. Maybe it's buried within Jeff Goldblum's biologically perfect head of hair.
