The Week's Best Gear: Portable Kayaks, Mossy Lighters, And Rapha

Most of this week's gear has us thinking about warmth. Winter's coming everyone; act accordingly.

Moss Lighter - $4
This standard lighter is wrapped in moss, which is alive. Because it's a plant. Cool or stupid? No idea, but it's fascinating. Now you can have a pet in your pocket that makes holding a lighter a bit...easier?

Mountain Surfer - $349
This board from Jones Snowboards stands between a snowskate and standard snowboard with a half-binding situation that they call binding hooks. Good for backyards and the backcountry.

Filson Cowichan Knits - $95+
Filson teamed up with a British Columbian First Peoples tribe and produced some crazy work with the knitting needles.

Alpacka White Water Kayak - $1,900
There's plenty of inflatable boats out there, but how many are able to withstand rapids and fit in a backpack? These awesome kayaks let you hike into places where you'd normally have to take a helicopter.

Rapha Climber's Shoes - $400
Built with Giro, Rapha shifted their trademark style and attention to detail to the feet, producing a shoe specifically designed for climbers. It's incredibly light, eschewing buckles for hook-and-loop, and has tiny air holes to keep your feet cool as you push watts.

Fjallraven Greenland No. 1 Down Jacket - $500
There may not be a more Nordic take on the down jacket, which is awesome. If you like Swedish stuff, you'll dig Fjallraven's winter stuff.

Lexdray's Fall Collection - $99+
Hiking attitude but everyday practicality, Lexdray fall packs have our attention.

Gordini Stash Lite Touch Glove - $35
Like cameras, condoms, and parachutes, the best pair of gloves are the ones that are with you. Besides being warm, these gloves are extremely packable, folding into their own stash pocket.
