The Nicolas Cage Mona Lisa iPhone Case is Hypnotically Beautiful

Memeskins, a small company from Edinburgh, Scotland, has singlehandedly won Etsy in one fell swoop by creating what may be the finest iPhone case ever made, taking the art of case-making to an apex previously thought impossible. The case itself may not be anything special — it's a standard hardshell case of impact-resistant plastic — but it serves as a canvas for the most compelling artwork of our time, a Nicolas Cage Mona Lisa. Finding the masterpiece both transfixing and unsettling at the same time, we sought out the creator only known to us as "Richard" to ask about its origins.

Richard: "My designs of his holiness are only to guide you away from the temptation of John Travolta. Our glorious leader shines bright from above and my pilgrimage will continue to spread Cagenism."

But why Nicolas Cage? Apparently, the answer is obvious.

Richard: "Nicolas Cage is the god that blesses our visualizing receptacles with the smile of a thousand suns. That's why!"

We should have known that. Just look at that smile!

Richard suspects Nicolas Cage appreciates the tribute, which is also available as a mouse pad.

Richard: "Our lord will be happy that his followers are still praising and spreading the word of himself."

While the "still" seems to be a reflection of Cage's past few not-so-great roles, let's take a moment to reflect on what Roger Ebert said about the Oscar-winner.

Roger Ebert: "He's daring and fearless in his choice of roles, and unafraid to crawl out on a limb, saw it off and remain suspended in air. There are often lists of the great living male movie stars: De Niro, Nicholson and Pacino, usually. How often do you see the name of Nicolas Cage? He should always be up there."

We heartily agree.
