The 5 things Taylor Phinney Can't Live Without

Taylor Phinney is known for three things: destroying the clock in time trials, having a haircut that brings him up to six-foot-eight, and being the classiest dude in the peloton. We caught up with him while he was busy winning the Tour of Dubai and found out what kind of stuff makes this time trialist tick faster than the clock.

GEAR:Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding Leather  - $27,000+ (leather keeps price "tasteful")
Sturdy, beveled, and brushed — this is one of Switzerland's finest. You could go out naked with this thing on and nobody would notice.
Phinney - It's well known that I like my watches. From this collection, the rose gold and pink gold leather strap versions are my favorite.

TECH: Apple iPhone 5s - $199
What can we say about the iPhone that you don't already know? Ok, how bout this. Open the Music app and look at the bottom. See the silhouette under "artists?" That's Bono.
Phinney - Spend a lot of time traveling during the season — I would be pretty lost without it.

RIDE 1: Cream WhitePorsche Carrera Cabriolet 911 - $96,000ish
RIDE 2 : BMC Impec - $14,000+
Unlike his pricey Swiss choices of bike and watch, Phinney stays pretty down-to-earth with this 911, a far more restrained and tasteful choice than some of his colleagues. What's wrong with realistic dreams? Dunking on a lowered hoop still feels good.
Phinney - Easy answer is bicycle; however, when I have the opportunity to get behind the wheel, I love this ride.

HOME: Two Red LeatherPoltrona Frau Vanity Fair Chairs - $
You've probably seen (pictures of) the Italian leatherworks' upholstery for Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati interiors, but they make some incredible furniture as well. They're currently in the heat of a bidding war as a U.S. office chair company is trying to buy them, so you might see more stateside soon. We wonder who sits in Taylor's other chair.
Phinney - I bought these in Italy during last years off-season — they're very cool. The attention to detail in the design is incredible.

VICE: Guiness Stout - $7
Judging from the photos, he'll accept a Prosecco if offered.
Phinney - On the rare occasions I get to drink, can't go wrong with Guinness. Apparently it's pretty good for you too!
